Eleven works from Danish Crafts’ recent MINDCRAFT exhibition are on display in Ampersand House and Gallery in Brussels.
From 2 June through 7 July, the Belgian gallery Ampersand House takes a Danish focus with the exhibition ‘From Denmark with Love’, which looks at both the past and future of Danish craft, design and gastronomy. For the exhibition, Lise Coirier, the editor-in-chief of the international design quarterly TL Magazine, in collaboration with Ike Udechuku and Kathryn Smith from Ampersand House, has selected eleven works from this year’s MINDCRAFT exhibition, which was presented during the recent design week in Milan.
The eleven works from MINDCRAFT12 that are exhibited in ‘From Denmark with Love’ are the mirror The Dandies by benandsebastian, the chair Ash by Thomas Bentzen, the paper lamp Papercuts by Louise Campbell, the coat hook Hook by Line Depping, the textile work In Your Big Sunny Window by Anne Fabricius Møller, the nested tables All Good Things Come in Threes by Peter Johansen, the bookcase Poet’s Book Hanger by Jakob Jørgensen, the stool Georg by Christina Liljenberg Halstrøm, the textile friezes Pink Elephants & In the Dark by Louise Sass, the glass series Tumblers & Plates by Tora Urup and the picnic basket Suitnest Dinner by Henrik Vibskov.
At the same time as the Ampersand House exhibition Puls Gallery presents an exhibition with ceramic work by Malene Müllertz and Stine Jespersen. This exhibition is also called ‘From Denmark with Love’. Both exhibitions are part of the official cultural programme connected to the Danish EU-presidency.
Ampersand House is an internationally recognized exhibition venue and gallery in the Saint-Gilles district in Brussels. The gallery is known for its characteristic exhibition form where art, craft and design are put on display in a setting resembling a private home. Ampersand House deals with a mix of classic design from the 20th century and new one-offs and prototypes.
In addition to the eleven works from MINDCRAFT12, the exhibition ‘From Denmark with Love’ features:
– Glass by Pernille Braun, Stine Jespersen, Tora Urup and Tobias Møhl and ceramics by Bente Hansen, Merete Rasmussen and Marie T. Hermann – selected and presented by Puls Gallery.
– Reissued furniture by Jens Risom (in cooperation with Benchmark and Rocket Gallery, London).
– A number of Danish furniture classics from the 1950s and 60s.
– New works by the Danish visual artist Ane Vester selected by galerie Archetype.
A series of these pieces are shown in TL Magazine’s current and upcoming issue as well as on tl.mag blog.
